Biomass Harvesting
In the winter of 2012-13, the Koester Farm Partnership received DNR grant for Biomass Removal for Habitat Restoration. We removed unwanted trees and brush and took them to District Energy for power generation. We then proceeded to control brush and stimulate the growth of native plant species through mowing and burning.
Unwanted trees and brush are cut from the eastern slope.
Cut material is piled in Central Valley.
Trees and brush are put into the woodgrinder.
Woodchips are loaded from a grinder to a truck to take to District Energy.
