“I’ve come to understand that it’s more than just about me going out and enjoying the birds but making sure that what I’m seeing and observing becomes part of a larger body of knowledge.”
“Some of the best weather can be rain . . . especially during migration if birds hit weather they’ll drop out and start feeding so it can be really, really good birding in bad weather.”
“A lot of the time is just spent being in that space. Being very quiet and still.”
“Another characteristic that’s really helpful is humility and a little skepticism . . . Sometimes you need to just step back and say ‘Well, I need help here.’”
