Conservation Partners Legacy Grant Awarded

On October 1, 2014 the Friends of Prairie Creek WMA and Cannon River Watershed Partnership were awarded a Conservation Partners Legacy Grant for $47,405. The funding will be used over the next three years to support restoration efforts on the prairie and savanna. The efforts will be directed at removal of buckthorn and other invasive species, prescribed burning to stimulate native growth, and the collection of native seeds to enhance the quality of the site.

We are very grateful for the close collaboration with the Cannon River Watershed Partnership and their help throughout the grant writing process.

We are also grateful to our volunteers, whose hours of service have helped demonstrate the public interest in the site. Thank you to all who have taken part.
