Volunteers for Native Seed Collection
We would welcome volunteers to help with native seed collection this fall! This year we will focus on harvesting seeds from two species of wildflowers: Bergamot, which is a rich light purple in later summer, and Gray-headed Coneflower, which is a lovely yellow in full bloom. These seeds will enrich the diversity of the new sections of prairie that will be planted at the site.
Our largest populations of these plants are on the eastern side of the WMA, a 20-30 minute hike from the parking lot. To allow time for the walk plus seed harvesting we have scheduled the following 3 hour volunteer work sessions:
September 21, Thursday, 9 a.m to noon.
September 30, Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon.
We meet in the parking lot at 9am each day. Bring gloves and water.
We would welcome your help! If you can volunteer, please contact Dave Kuhnau (dbkuhnau@gmail.com).
